Bodegas Guzmán Aldazabal is a small family winery located in Lapuebla de Labarca, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, one of the most qualitative areas of Rioja. For several generations, the Guzmán family has been cultivating vines on their own land with a clear vision: to produce sincere, precise wines that are true to their origin.

Today, it is Fernando Guzmán Aldazabal, oenologist and winemaker, who embodies this new generation attached to tradition but resolutely oriented towards sustainable viticulture on a human scale. The philosophy of the estate is based on an artisanal approach, respecting the old Tempranillo vines planted on limestone slopes, and a low-intervention winemaking process.

Terroir & winemaking

The estate mainly works on high-altitude plots, with clay-limestone soils and a climate influenced by the Atlantic. This terroir gives the wines a natural freshness, fine tannins, and a great aging potential.

The harvests are manual, fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, and the aging is measured, in French or American barrels, depending on the structure of the vintage. The idea is to preserve the fruit, tension, and identity of the Tempranillo, while offering an elegant and contemporary interpretation of Rioja.

Iconic cuvées

  • Guzmán Aldazabal Crianza: fine and vibrant red, beautiful fruit purity, integrated aging.

  • Guzmán Aldazabal Reserva: more structured, velvety tannins, aromatic depth, aging potential.

  • Vendimia Seleccionada: rare single-vineyard cuvée, from very old vines, concentrated, silky, mineral.
