Asserted authenticity, mineral structure, and rustic elegance

Historic Cru Bourgeois of Médoc, Château Tour de Pez extends over approximately 52 hectares of deep gravel, in the heart of Saint-Estèphe. This family estate, driven by the Duboscq-Gaussen family, stands out for its assertive style, rooted in freshness, straightness, and saline minerality.

Terroir & grape varieties

Günzian gravel soils on clay-limestone subsoil, ideal for the slow ripening of Cabernet. The traditional grape composition combines ≈45% Cabernet Sauvignon, ≈40% Merlot, with a small touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for complexity.

Viticulture & winemaking

Sustainable practices with manual harvesting, rigorous sorting, moderate maceration. Vinification by grape variety and plot, followed by aging for 14 to 16 months in barrels containing about 40% new wood, ensuring tannic structure, saline freshness, and rustic elegance.

Style & aging

The wine reveals aromas of blackcurrant, sweet spices, tobacco, and graphite, in a straight, ample mouth, with melted tannins and an iodized finish. It is appreciated from 5 years and gains depth up to around 20 years depending on the vintages.

Iconic cuvées

  • Château Tour de Pez: the Grand Vin, racy and warm, true to the Saint-Estèphe identity.

  • Antoine de Pez: a more accessible second wine, revealing fruit and structure in a convivial spirit.
