Château Climens – Premier Cru Classé de Barsac, purity and elegance of Sémillon
Absolute reference of the great sweet wines of Bordeaux, Château Climens, nicknamed the Lord of Barsac, is a mythical estate classified as Premier Cru in 1855. This historic vineyard, located in the heart of the Barsac appellation, produces wines of exceptional finesse, made from 100% Sémillon, the king grape variety of the great sweet wines of Sauternais.
A unique terroir certified in biodynamics
The vineyard of Château Climens extends over 27 hectares in one piece, planted exclusively with Sémillon on a rare soil mixing clay sands and fissured asteriated limestone. Since 2010, the estate has been cultivating its vines using biodynamics, with official certification obtained in 2014. This respectful approach enhances the identity of the terroir and the vitality of the wines.
Every gesture in the cellar and the vineyard aims to preserve the natural balance of the wine, through slow fermentations, without exogenous yeasts, and perfectly controlled barrel aging.
The emblematic cuvées of Château Climens
Château Climens – Premier Cru Classé
This great sweet wine seduces with its aromatic complexity (candied orange zest, exotic fruits, honey, white flowers) and its long aging potential. Each vintage develops over time a remarkable purity and freshness.
Cyprès de Climens
The second wine of the estate, more accessible in its youth. Ideal for discovering the Climens signature, with a beautiful tension, aromas of apricot, honeysuckle, and an airy finish.
Asphodèle – Dry white wine
A confidential cuvée launched in 2018: a dry white 100% Sémillon with great minerality, without wood, all in straightness and floral expression.
Lilium – Exceptional micro-cuvée
The most delicate expression of the Climens terroir, this rare cuvée offers a caressing texture and fine notes of white flower and peach kernel.
