Slate terroirs, radical precision, and controlled naturalism
Anchored in Pünderich, on the mythical slopes of the Mosel, Weingut Clemens Busch is led by Clemens, Rita, and Johannes, now boasting 16 hectares certified in biodynamics. A pioneer since 1984 in natural agriculture, the estate delivers Rieslings of mineral purity and expressiveness, perfectly rooted in their terroirs.
Terroir & grape variety
Planted with 99% Riesling (1% Pinot Noir), on the famous terraces of Pündericher Marienburg, the estate identifies unique terroirs – Fahrlay, Falkenlay, Rothenpfad, Felsterrasse, Raffes – covering soils of blue, gray, and red slate, as indicated by the capsule.
Viticulture & winemaking
Work piece by piece, manual harvesting, long spontaneous fermentations in old 1,000 L foudres, aging on lees for 12 to 24 months. No additives (yeasts, enzymes, filtration) except for a bit of sulfur at bottling.
Style & aging
The wines are of incredible purity, tense, saline, and textured, blending concentrated citrus, wet stone, discreet herbs, and spices. The dry cuvées (Trocken, GG) can age 15 to 30 years, while the Kabinett and Spätlese offer balance and enlightening freshness.
