Riesling Ritsch GG 2020 - Carl Loewen
From the legendary steep slope of Thörnicher Ritsch, this dry Riesling offers a vertical, crystalline, and deeply mineral expression of its slate-rich terroir.
Nose: Subtle and refined, it opens with a pure citrus profile: lime zest, bergamot, white grapefruit, then evolves toward floral notes (elderflower, verbena) and smoky accents (flint, gunpowder). A hint of peppermint and a touch of heather honey suggest a layered complexity still unfolding.
Palate: The attack is sharp and precise, marked by mineral tension and linear purity. The fruit stays discreet, highlighting the soil: crisp green apple, barely ripe white peach, lifted by vibrant salinity and a touch of fresh ginger. The oak is fully integrated, allowing the terroir to take center stage.
