The Côtes du Jura appellation is located in the Jura wine region, in the east of France. It covers a large territory, including the Jura departments and part of the neighboring region of Franche-Comté. This appellation is known for its great diversity of wines, which include whites, reds, rosés, as well as yellow wines and straw wines, all produced on characteristic terroirs.

Characteristics of Côtes du Jura wines:

  • White wines: Mainly made from the grape varieties Chardonnay and Savagnin, the white wines of Côtes du Jura are fresh, fruity, and endowed with a beautiful minerality, often with an impressive aging potential. The yellow wines, a specific white wine of the region, are aged under a veil and present aromas of nuts and dried fruits.

  • Red wines: These come from the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard, which bring elegant red wines, often light and fruity, with fine tannins and a beautiful freshness.

  • Rosé wines: Mostly made from Poulsard, these wines are delicate, fresh, and fruity, ideal for convivial moments and summer meals.

The wines of Côtes du Jura are often aged in oak barrels, which gives them woody aromas and additional complexity. They pair well with a wide variety of dishes, from regional cheeses like Comté, to white meats, and seafood.

The Côtes du Jura appellation embodies the richness of the Jura terroir, with wines of character, which testify to the know-how of local winemakers.
