The 2008 Riesling Grand Cru Muenchberg from Domaine Ostertag reveals a pale yellow color with golden hues, an expressive nose of ripe peach, candied citrus, white flowers, and wet stone, and a broad, tense, and structured palate marked by pronounced minerality, yellow fruit, citrus, gentle spices, and a long, saline, vibrant finish; this wine, from the unique sandstone and volcanic soils of Nothalten, is at its peak today but can age gracefully until 2028; it pairs beautifully with noble fish (grilled or in light sauce), refined Asian cuisine, and aged cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort.
