Pinot Gris Sommerberg Vendanges Tardives 2017 - Albert Boxler
A rare, late-harvest Pinot Gris from one of Alsace’s most iconic Grand Cru slopes. Luscious, complex and beautifully balanced.
The Sommerberg Grand Cru is a dramatic, steep granite hillside facing due south in Niedermorschwihr. Albert Boxler crafts outstanding Pinot Gris wines here, and this Vendanges Tardives 2017 is a perfect example of his mastery. The late-harvest designation indicates optimal ripeness and superb concentration.
The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe mirabelle plums, roasted pineapple, quince jam and delicate honey. On the palate, the sweetness is immediately apparent, yet it's uplifted by a vibrant, granite-driven acidity that keeps the wine fresh and focused. The finish is long, silky, and marked by mineral finesse.
