Located in Niedermorschwihr, in the Kaysersberg Valley, the Domaine Albert Boxler has embodied for several generations the absolute excellence of great Alsatian whites, in a style that is both pure, vertical, and deeply rooted in its granitic terroirs. Established in 1673 and passed down from father to son, the estate is now run with rigor and sensitivity by Jean Boxler, heir to an ancestral know-how.
A high-altitude terroir sculpted in granite
The estate's vineyards, cultivated in non-certified biodynamics, thrive on steep slopes, between 300 and 450 meters above sea level, at the heart of mythical terroirs like the Grand Cru Sommerberg or the Brand. The granitic base, the steep slope, and the south-facing exposure offer wines of masterful tension, chiseled by minerality.
Wine style
Boxler wines are airy, precise, elongated, driven by a noble acidity and a great aromatic depth. Each cuvée is a faithful expression of its plot, with a style recognizable among all: a perfect balance between power, verticality, and finesse. Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer are aged with total respect for the vintage.
Iconic cuvées
Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg "E": elite plot, sharp minerality, immense aging potential.
Pinot Gris Grand Cru Brand: breadth and tension, noble spices, perfect balance.
Riesling Réserve: purity and length, emblematic signature of the estate.
Gewurztraminer Réserve: floral, subtle, far from excess, with a remarkable saline finish.
Pinot Blanc Réserve: crystalline freshness, confidential rarity.
Philosophy & winemaking
Jean Boxler practices artisanal viticulture, demanding and respectful of natural cycles. Yields are very low, fermentations are long and natural, aging is done in old foudres, without new wood or invasive intervention. The wines are never standardized: they are artisan-winemaker wines, of extreme precision, capable of withstanding the decades.
