Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Vendanges Tardives 2004 - Albert Boxler
Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Vendanges Tardives 2004 - Albert Boxler
Highly expressive and complex nose with ripe stone fruits (candied apricot, yellow peach, mirabelle), candied citrus peel, hints of honey and light botrytis, evolving toward notes of vanilla, sweet spices, black tea and dried verbena; the palate is suave, generous and creamy, with a superb balance between residual sweetness and vibrant acidity, leading to a long, persistent finish marked by candied fruits, citrus zest, spices and the distinctive granite minerality of the Sommerberg; drinking beautifully now but with excellent ageing potential (20–25 years); pairs perfectly with seared or semi-cooked foie gras, mildly spicy Thai or Vietnamese cuisine, yellow fruit desserts, or blue cheeses.
