Gould Campbell Vintage Port 1994
1994 Gould Campbell Vintage Port, Portugal
Deep, intense ruby Port with garnet highlights. The nose is complex and expressive, blending notes of stewed black fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry, plum, fig), black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice, and sweet spices (vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon). With aeration, hints of menthol, blond tobacco, and a delicate mineral touch emerge.
On the palate, the attack is generous, rich, and velvety. The texture is dense yet perfectly balanced by lively acidity and smooth, integrated tannins. The wine unfolds with broad flavors of macerated dark fruits, bitter cocoa, mocha, spiced caramel, and kirsch. The mouthfeel is silky but powerful, with excellent persistence. The finish is long, smooth, slightly spicy and fresh, with lingering notes of fruit, licorice, and menthol.
A deep and refined Port, still full of energy after 30 years, now at perfect maturity yet capable of further aging.
