Clos Rougeard le Bourg 2017 - Frères Foucault
A rare Loire icon, this 2017 Saumur-Champigny "Le Bourg" from Clos Rougeard combines depth, finesse and outstanding ageing potential.
Le Bourg is Clos Rougeard’s most iconic and rare cuvée, sourced from old Cabernet Franc vines on a tuffeau slope next to the winery. Farmed organically, hand-harvested with very low yields. Natural fermentation in wooden vats, then aged 24–30 months in 100% new French oak barrels.
Nose: Profound aromas of blackberry, ink, cigar box, black truffle, oriental spices and violet. Stunning depth and aromatic layering.
Palate: Velvety texture, ultra-refined but firm tannins. Masterfully balanced density and freshness. Endless finish with notes of graphite, licorice and chalk.
