50&50 1997 -d'Avignonesi & Capannelle (CBO, mag., 1.5 l)
50&50 1997 - avignonesi
Tuscan red wine made in equal parts from Merlot (Avignonesi, Montepulciano) and Sangiovese (Capannelle, Gaiole in Chianti). Deep ruby color with brick-toned edges. Intense nose combining candied black cherry, dried plum, ripe blackcurrant, leather, fine woods, musk, blond tobacco, and sweet spices (nutmeg, cinnamon). On the palate, the attack is broad and velvety, with a texture that is mellow yet still fleshy. The mid-palate strikes a balance between the softness of Merlot and the freshness of Sangiovese, showing a supple structure and rounded, well-integrated tannins. Aromatic evolution reveals notes of macerated dark fruits, mocha, vanilla, forest floor, and a hint of balsamic. The finish is long, silky, persistent, with a touch of licorice and a return of bitter cocoa. A wine of great harmony, now at its peak maturity, yet still vibrant.
