The Clos de Tart is an exceptional wine produced in the climate of the same name in Morey-Saint-Denis, in Côte-d'Or, in the prestigious Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. This grand cru, a true monopoly, is one of the most famous in the region, with a history dating back to 1141, the date of its founding by the Cistercians of Tart. Since then, it has belonged to only three successive estates, which testifies to its unique character and antiquity.
The terroir of Clos de Tart is exceptional, with soils rich in limestone and clay, offering a solid and noble structure to the wines produced. These are made from the Pinot Noir grape variety, which benefits from ideal sun exposure conditions to ripen slowly and fully. Clos de Tart is renowned for its complex and elegant wines, revealing aromas of black fruits, cocoa, flowers, and subtle notes of spices and noble wood.
The wines of Clos de Tart are perfect for a remarkable aging potential, reaching their peak between 10 and 30 years. On the palate, they offer a silky texture and impressive depth, with fine tannins that blend over time.
One of the major attractions of Clos de Tart is its ability to accompany a wide range of refined dishes. Thanks to its powerful and elegant structure, it will ideally pair with game dishes, such as a venison roast or boar, but also sauced dishes, such as a lamb shoulder with morels. This wine is also an ideal companion for aged cheeses like Citeaux.
The Domaine du Clos de Tart, now under the management of the LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) group, continues to produce wines of exceptional quality. This grand cru, produced by a monopoly estate, remains highly sought after by wine enthusiasts and collectors, and it represents a choice investment for those wishing to acquire a Burgundian wine of great nobility, capable of improving with age.
